"Holidi," who had been lying in the upper Graben for almost 30 years, was a household name even to Winterthur residents who weren't interested in art.
Art lovers may still remember the last major solo exhibitions
in Winterthur (Kunstmuseum 2005 and oxyd Kunsträume 2011).
Those who knew Werner Jans personally certainly remember his joy in people. He was an excellent observer, studying their behavior, their characters, their clothes, and if the attraction was great enough, he would create a corresponding figure.
This fall marks three years since Werner Jans passed away. Even the City of Winterthur's Culture Prize could unfortunately only be awarded to him posthumously.
